Collaboration with ´Alegría sin Fronteras´ and ´La Joie des Orphelins´: Stories of hope.

The work carried out by ´Alegría sin fronteras´ and ´La Joie des Orphelins´ has captivated us so we have decided to join in with their efforts, their work and their enthusiasm.

ILERI has established a partnership with the NGO “Alegría sin Fronteras” (Joy without Borders) and La Joie des Orphelins (Joy of the orphans), with the aim of making educational solidarity actions between Catalonia and various African countries. We are very excited about this collaboration. The link to these two asociations, Iñaki Alegria, is a pediatrician and currently Works at the Children’s Hospital in Gambo (Ethiopia) and the camp for orphans La Joie des Orphelins  in Kolda (Senegal). Congratulations for all the work you do Iñaki! A big hug from all of us to all of the children involved in this Project.

Experiences that give the children of Ethiopia, Gambia and Senegal hope

Iñaki shares some of his experiences with us periodically. Today we want to share the stories of Alasane, Assi y Abusha with you, three stories that awaken hope, through the smallest of gestures. Do not miss Iñakis blog: https://cooperacioambalegria.wordpress.com/

Alassane is a child born in a homre birth, there were complications and as a result Alassane suffered from neonatal asphyxia and has celebral palsy. Schooling has helped him with stimuli and to improve cognitive and neur-psycho-motor development. Alassane has finished his first year at school. It has been a wonderful experience for him, it allowed hims to make new Friends and receive much needed stimuli daily. Without a doubt, we can see a before and an after.

Assi Diamanka was orphaned at the age of seven, he lived very humbly and had suffered through experiencies unimaginable to us. Since being orphaned Assi Diamanka received support from “La Joie des Orphelins” (The Joy of the orphans) it gives him the support and strength he needs to succeed in the most difficult of times. Now 14 years old, Assi Diamanka is in his fourth year of Primary school in Sinthiang Faraba in Kolda. He is a very bright and alert student. Assi currently forms an important part of “La Joie des Orphelins” he helps other orphaned children like himself, to overcome their difficulties, keep moving forward and he shows them how important schooling is.

Abusha, is a young, very young in fact, teenage mother, no more than 17. She arrived with a sunken look, a look that filled with tears and sank even more when she realised the seriousness of the situation of her daughter Ruziya. Now, after 26 days in the hospital her daughter she leaves filled with joy, delighted with the treatment her daughter has received, Abusha leaves amid warm embraces, tokens of appreciation. Happiness has now returned to Abusha’s face, a look filled with life for the first time, watching her daughter eat and grow in strength and vitality daily. Joy happiness, health, what every child the world over should have.
